Antonella Leoni, artista italiana residente in Egitto, è una figura di spicco nel panorama artistico contemporaneo. La sua arte combina sapientemente tecniche antiche e connotazioni mistiche, dando vita a opere che incantano per la loro capacità di immaginazione e profondità spirituale. Le sue creazioni traggono ispirazione dai versi del Corano, dagli Hadith e dalle antiche poesie arabe, elementi che permeano la sua produzione artistica di un’aura di sacralità e bellezza. Dalle sue mani prendono vita figure e lettere che emergono dal papiro bagnato, dando forma a un universo immaginario ricco di colori e profondamente radicato nella storia. Il processo creativo di Antonella si è sviluppato in Egitto, un ambiente culturale ricco di stimoli e suggestioni che hanno plasmato la sua arte. In occasione dell’inaugurazione della mostra, l’artista Antonella Leoni condividerà con il pubblico il suo percorso artistico e personale attraverso i tesori della cultura araba ed egiziana, mentre l’arabista e islamologo Federico Salvaggio offrirà un’analisi approfondita delle connessioni tra le opere di Antonella e il patrimonio arabo, con una riflessione sul simbolismo e sui valori spirituali del linguaggio, dell’arte e dei processi creativi nella cultura islamica.

Al-Mi’raj al-Ruhani : Dimensioni Spirituali e Segreti Mistici nell’Arte di Antonella
Language and Heritage in the Islamic Civilization by Prof. Federico Salvaggio Antonella Leoni is a well-known Italian artist resident in Cairo. Her artistic approach combines ancient techniques with a mystical connotation that makes her works known for her imagination and contemplation of the Divine. Verses from the Holy Qur’an, Hadith and old poems inspire her feelings and imagination, as well as the ancient pattern marbling motifs, which create unique effects, like a DNA impossible to replicate. In Antonella’s works, figures and letters emerge from the papyrus coming out of the water, and recognized by the artist, to create an intense, colorful, and powerful universe, fantastic and at the same time rooted in history. The creative process of Antonella, started and developed in Egypt, seems to be born directly from the Egyptian cultural climate, from Pharaonic to Christian and Islamic traditions. Her experience in Cairo was not only a path of learning the art of Arabic calligraphy but a consolidation of her spiritual maturity, embracing cultures and traditions. Her works express a form of ‘Sophia’: culture, knowledge, wisdom and spirituality together in a visual thought. These works are beautiful objects as well as motifs of contemplation and reflection. Writing the most beautiful words is like perpetuating beauty and their spiritual meanings. On occasion of the opening of her exhibition, Antonella Leoni will share with the audience her artistic and personal experience in her journey through the treasures of Arabic and Egyptian culture, whereas Federico Salvaggio will analyze the deepest connections of her works with the Arabic heritage, in the light of a wider reflection on the symbolic and spiritual values of language, art and creativity processes in Islamic culture.
