Il Museo Egizio di Torino ospita una collezione di sarcofagi, pannelli e frammenti provenienti da Asyut. Lo studio di questi materiali permette di effettuare una serie di osservazioni sulla decorazione testuale e sull’epigrafia di uno dei principali centri dell’Egitto del Medio Regno; ciò ci consentirà di tracciare lo sviluppo di una tradizione che dimostra la complessità del programma decorativo di questi sarcofagi e il modello delle officine locali.

COFFIN-LAB. MEANING AND USE OF INSCRIPTIONS ON A GROUP OF MIDDLE KINGDOM COFFINS AT THE EGYPTIAN MUSEUM IN TURIN

The Egyptian Museum in Turin houses a collection of coffins, coffin panels and fragments from Asyut. The study of these materials allows for a series of observations on the textual decoration and epigraphy of one of the major centres of Middle Kingdom Egypt.
This will enable us to trace the development of a tradition that demonstrates the complexity of the decorative programme of these coffins and the model of the local workshops.
